WHAT ARE CHILD DEDICATIONS?
The Bible teaches about child dedication. In 1 Samuel 1, Hannah presents her son Samuel to the Lord. In Luke 2:22, Mary and Joseph bring their baby Jesus to the temple in Jerusalem to present him before the Lord. Child dedications solidify the commitment of parents or caregivers to raise their child up in the Lord, to know God, and to make Him known.
In addition, we have prophetic teams in place that will pray ahead of time for prophetic words over your children. These are recorded and given to parents on the day of the dedication.
WHY SHOULD I DEDICATE MY CHILD?
Children belong to God. Psalm 127:3 proclaims, "sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from Him." As Christians, we are called to recognize that children belong first and foremost to God and are given by His grace as gifts to parents. We must remember that God is the author of life; God knows each child before we do; God knows each child from the moment of conception, and God is involved in our creation. Pslams 139:13-16
WHAT AM I COMMITTING TO AS A PARENT?
You are committing and seeking to do everything in your power, as God gives you wisdom, to see your children grow up to respect and honor God and to Leo and serve Jesus Christ. This "setting apart" is an act by you, the parents, which is a powerful declaration of your acknowledgment of your stewardship over God's children. The dedication ceremony is not for the salvation of your children but a public expression of the fact that they belong to God.
